Benjamin "Ben" Mathews for Winslow Township Board of Education #3

Ben is a dedicated educator, a husband and father, and an advocate for children. He is running for a seat on the Board of Education for Winslow Township this November. As a high school history teacher at KIPP High School in Camden, Ben has spent years empowering students—many of whom come from communities like ours—to think critically, embrace their heritage, and believe in their power to shape the future.
In the classroom, Ben teaches more than just dates and facts. He helps young people understand their place in history and their potential to make a meaningful impact on their future success. Through AP and core history courses, he’s built a reputation for inspiring civic engagement and academic excellence.
As an instructional leader, he mentors new teachers, leads professional development, and drives initiatives that improve outcomes for all students—especially those who have been historically underserved. Ben’s work with education policy fellows and advocacy organizations reflects his commitment to equity, accountability, and excellence, and therefore, makes him an excellent candidate for the school board. He believes that every child—regardless of zip code or background—deserves a high-quality education and a school board that listens, leads, and delivers.
Ben has called Winslow Township home for his entire adult life, and as the father of two young sons who will soon enter our school district, he shares the hopes and concerns of families across our community. He knows that strong schools are the foundation of strong neighborhoods—and that our children deserve classrooms where they are seen, supported, and set up to succeed.
With deep roots in education and a heart for service, Ben will fight for the future our children deserve. Let’s stand together to ensure Winslow’s schools uplift every student, honor every family, and reflect the brilliance of our community.
Champion Fiscal Integrity: Protecting Taxpayers Through Accountability and Reform
Taxpayers deserve more than vague promises-they deserve transparency, efficiency, and stewardship of every dollar entrusted to our schools. We must take decisive action to reduce the burden of mismanagement, waste, and abuse at every level. These systemic failures not only erode public trust but divert critical resources away from students and from the community they're meant to serve.
To that end, Winslow residents deserve honesty and clarity from those entrusted with their children’s education. Ben will:
No child should suffer mistreatment in a place meant to nurture them. Ben will:
Your tax dollars should go directly toward improving schools—not lining pockets or funding inefficiency. Ben will:
Every child deserves a school that inspires them to lead, learn, and grow. Ben will:
Outdated facilities send the wrong message to our kids. Ben will:
Parents want consistency and results—not empty promises. Ben will:
Ben isn’t just running for office—he’s stepping up for families. He believes that when parents, educators, and leaders work together, we can build a school system that truly reflects the hopes we hold for our children.
Let’s vote for leadership that listens, protects, and delivers.
Please let me know what concerns you have as a parent, a student, a resident, or a stakeholder in the Winslow Township education system. I would love to hear your thoughts.
