Michael Clark has dedicated his life to serving the community of Winslow. He is a a teacher and youth pastor at solid Rock Baptist Church in Berlin, NJ, where he has worked with the local youth for over a decade. In this capacity, he has come into contact with many Winslow families who find themselves stuck at an underperforming school. Michael's decision to run for the Winslow Township school board is driven by his firsthand experience with these issues facing today's families and students. Michael is committed to ensuring that every child in Winslow Township has access to tools and resources they need to thrive, both academically and personally.
Early Life and Education: Michael is the youngest person on this ticket, but don't let that fool you. He has a wealth of experience in mentoring and outreach. and he is respected by students and parents. He is credited with being able to relate to a younger generation. These are all important qualities in knowing who you are advocating for. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral and Biblical Studies from Vision Baptist College. He is married to Deven, his wife of 3 years.
CommunityInvolvement: Throughout his career, Michael has been deeply involved in supporting children and teenagers in Winslow Township and Camden, NJ. From leading efforts to connect with youth in the community to organizing neighborhood connect groups during the pandemic, Michael has consistently sought to uplift young people, especially during challenging times. He continues this mission today by hosting and leading events and activities for students in grades 7-12, creating opportunities for growth, leadership, and mentorship. Through conversations with both parents and students, he has heard a consistent message: many feel that the education and support being provided are not meeting their needs, particularly for families with limited financial resources. Michael believes that students are not only missing out on the basics of education but are also not being taught to think critically and independently. "I want every student to have the opportunity to succeed," Michael says, "but sadly, in Winslow, too many students are being left behind. If we don't invest in quality education and support, how can we expect our children to become the successful, contributing members of society that they are capable of being."
Professional Life and Local Ties: Michael has deep local ties to this community. His grandfather founded Solid Rock Baptist Church. His father is the head of the music department at Solid Rock and Michael and his family sing with their group, Clark Family Music.
